Heddy Maalem has practiced aïkido, boxing and contemporary dance. In dance he essentially works on, with and about the body: its structure, the knowledge of its logics, of its states of mind
He has a pragmatical approach: the balance and loss of balance, consciousness of the center of the body and logically of its extremities (feet, fingers, head), the relationship between up and down, place in space. The earth and the sky linked by a consciousness and a body. With a performer he seeks not to make him perform, but to look after a sort of neutral state, like borrowing a preestablished movement. To listen, to make silence, to be sharp, to begin to move, to forget the ego, to be here.
