Premiere: September 18 and 19, Voronezh Chamber Theatre

Dance performance

Created at Voronezh Chamber Theatre as part of Art Laboratories initiated by International Festival-School of Contemporary Art Territory and SIBUR holding, Konstantin Keykhel’s dance performance is based the dystopian novel Ape and Essence by Aldous Huxley. Exploring the ecological and social issues raised in the book and that humanity still has to solve, the performance focuses on the relationship between the man and nature.

With a score by composer and sound designer Konstantin Chistyakov, lighting by Bolshoi Theatre’s Aleksandr Romanov and videos by artist Dmitry Bychkov, Silent Spring is performed by the dancers of Voronezh Chamber Theatre: one of the country’s first dance teams at a non-dance theatre in Russia.

Art Laboratories is a joint project by International Festival-School of Contemporary Art Territory and SIBUR holding, running for the third year in Russian cities where SIBUR has its branches. The project supports creatives and art professionals in Russian regions and introduces them to international cultural trends. In 2016, Art Laboratories received the Patron of Culture award at Russian Sponsorship Awards, and in 2018 it was shortlisted for Innovation Prize as the best Education Project by an NGO in contemporary art.
